Intel has disclosed a few details of its next-generation high-end SSD range, codenamed Cherryville and expected to be branded as the 520 Series.
The new range will succeed the 510 Series later this year, and will move from 34nm MLC NAND flash to the 25nm process, as débuted in the company’s new enterprise-class drives.
Marketing manager Troy Winslow, who made the revelation at IDF in San Francisco, predicted that the new design would bring exceptional performance.

“It will be the highest performing SSD in the marketplace,” Winslow announced confidently. “We already took a step in the right direction with the 510 series, and this will be a no compromise solution.”

But Winslow emphasised that this prediction did not constitute a formal product announcement.
“We are not launching,” he cautioned the audience. “We are not announcing. We are disclosing.”
