Vodafone broadband users switched to Plusnet

Vodafone is to hive off its home phone and broadband operations to Plusnet, the company has announced.

Vodafone broadband users switched to Plusnet

From 7 February next year, all Vodafone At Home customers will be transferred across to BT-owned Plusnet, with monthly charges, account details, user names and passwords all remaining the same.

“The residential phone and broadband market in the UK is not a strategic focus at the present time,” the company said in a set of FAQs advising customers of the move. “After assessing the whole market, we chose Plusnet as the provider that can best support Vodafone At Home customers in the future.”

Consumers accepting the move to the new provider will see an increased allowance for broadband usage, moving from 40GB to 60GB a month, and Plusnet will not count traffic between midnight and 8am as part of the allowance.

According to Vodafone, broadband services “will be transferred over on the same speed as you are currently experiencing”.

Although the switch takes place on 7 February, subscribers that don’t wish to be transferred need to make an “account cancellation request” before the migration.

Vodafone said customers looking to switch to an alternative provider should request a MAC code before 2 February, or make the request to Plusnet after the transfer.
