The HP Slate 7 Android tablet will hit shelves in the UK on 1 May for £129 inc VAT.

The release timing, revealed on HP’s UK website, allays earlier fears the company would delay release until early June.
The firm is hoping its 7in tablet, targeted at the low end of the market, will prove more popular than its earlier attempts, namely the TouchPad.
Establishing a foothold in tablets is also crucial as PC sales continue to plummet.
The Slate 7 is expected to go head to head with Amazon’s Kindle Fire, with a similar price, as well as the same screen size and 1,024 x 600 resolution.
Unlike the Fire, however, the Slate 7 runs a stock version of Android Jelly Bean 4.1, giving users more flexibility to download apps and other content from Google Play.
The device boasts 8GB in storage, with the ability to expand to 32GB with a microSD card, unlike the Fire or Google’s Nexus 7. It has a 3-megapixel, rear-facing camera, a 0.3MP front-facing camera and Beats Audio. It also features a dual-core 1.6GHz Cortex A9 processor and 1GB of RAM.
