Barnes & Noble has slashed the cost of its entry-level ebook reader – the Nook Simple Touch – to only £29 inc VAT.

The Simple Touch, which was previously on sale for £79, is one of four ebook readers to get a temporary price reduction, as part of a “Get London Reading” campaign – although the discounts are available outside of the capital.
The Nook Simple Touch GlowLight – which adds a sidelight to the basic eInk screen – has been reduced from £109 to £69.
Two Nook tablets have also been cut in price. The 7in Nook HD has been dropped from £159 to £129, while the bigger 9in Nook HD+ tumbles from £229 to £179.
Barnes & Noble hasn’t stated how long the offer will run for, but stores such as Argos and Asda have stock of the £29 Simple Touch.
