Asus is taking pre-orders for its 31.5in, Ultra HD 4K monitor, the PQ321 True 4K, through US distributors.

The monitor isn’t cheap, at $3,499, (around £2,300) – and that’s an “introductory” price tag for early adopters. The monitor’s available to pre-order from today through Newegg, Amazon.com, and TigerDirect with shipping starting from 16 July.

The LED backlit display boasts a 3,840 x 2,160 Ultra HD, 10-bit RGB display, packing 140ppi. It offers 176-degree viewing angles and 350 cd/m2 maximum brightness. It also comes with built-in stereo speakers, dual HDMI inputs and DisplayPort connectivity.

It weighs 13kg, but is the thinnest 4K monitor available at 35mm.

Asus said it’s also developing a 39in version, but it won’t be ready until early next year.
