Windows 95 crammed onto Samsung smartwatch

If you’ve ever found yourself pining for a simpler time, when Micrososft’s easy-to-use Windows 95 operating system was ubiquitous, we have good news.

An American teenager has found a way to run the veteran OS on his Samsung Gear Live smartwatch.

Corbin Davenport, a 16-year-old programmer and writer who says he “really [likes] messing around with tech, especially older stuff” has uploaded a video of his achievement to YouTube.

According to the sub-titles on the video, he used the ADOSBOX emulator to resurrect Windows 95, saying its the only one he could make work with Android Wear.

While Windows 95 does technically run, it doesn’t run well. The OS “seems to run out of RAM after opening any applications”, but it will let you take a trip down memory lane on a very small screen.

Other ventures

Davenport isn’t joking when he says he’s into older tech. Earlier this month, he managed to get 1993 classic game Doom running on his smartwatch – and it appears to be playable.

He’s also run Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.9.5, which unlike the other two was created in his lifetime.
