The Football Association, which is building the new Wembley Stadium has announced a five-year sponsorship deal with Microsoft. It is believed to be worth £5m.

As a ‘Founding Partner’ in the construction of the Stadium, Microsoft UK will support the new home of English football over its final stage of construction and for the first four years of its operational life.
The new 90,000-seat Stadium will not only play host to England football matches but also a host of other major sporting events such as the FA Cup Final, the Football League Cup Final, and the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final.
No details of how much the deal is worth to the Football Association or how much branding the software giant is likely to receive in return have been made public. However, it is likely that Microsoft will get a lot of free advertising on televised sporting and music events for several years to come.
The new Wembley Stadium opens next year around the same time as Windows Vista. It is, of course, well known for being notoriously late, over budget and subject to much wrangling over the design. The new Wembley Stadium has had its problems too.
