Oracle to issue 81 security patches
Today will be a busy day for IT admins, as Oracle has added 81 patches to the record 16 already announced by Microsoft.
Oracle issues its patches on a quarterly cycle, while Microsoft releases its fixes monthly.
“This Critical Patch Update contains 81 new security vulnerability fixes across hundreds of Oracle products,” the company said in its security bulletin, adding that 31 are in products picked up during the Sun acquisition, including five in Open Office.
“Due to the threat posed by a successful attack, Oracle strongly recommends that customers apply Critical Patch Update fixes as soon as possible,” it warned.
Oracle will also issue fixes for 29 vulnerabilities in Java, both the Standard and Business editions. The next Oracle patch is due on 18 January.
