Intel vice president Mooly Eden has given IDF delegates a fleeting glimpse of the company’s next generation Haswell processor – due to launch in 2013, after next year’s Ivy Bridge platform.

“This is Haswell,” Eden declared during his keynote speech, holding up the CPU package that promises to reduce power consumption and fully realise the potential of the Ultrabook platform.
“And this,” he added, turning to a PC on stage showing a looping video within Windows, “is a working Haswell system.”
“This product is brilliant,” he gushed. “And the design team is brilliant. That’s the reason we can show such functionality at this early stage.”
By the time delegates were allowed to inspect the hardware, however, the system had been shut down, and there was nothing to see but a sealed, unbranded PC case. It seems we’ll have to wait for IDF 2012 for a proper look at Intel’s next “tock”.
