Tesco software goes online
Tesco is expanding its sale of software – the office suite and anti-virus products will now be sold online as well as in stores.
Tesco began selling its range of computer programs in October 2006 but has now announced that they will be available online, via www.tescosoftware.com. The move follows a ‘successful in-store roll out’, declares Tesco.
Note that this is not a download service. Delivery options include collection from a Tesco store and standard next day postal delivery.
The retail giant dipped its toe into software waters with six products – an office suite, two security / antivirus products, a personal finance tool, a CD/DVD burning tool and a photo editing tool, all at around twenty pounds each. The software has been developed by a company named Formjet based in Cambridge, which is behind Ability Software and other applications.
‘We are delighted with the success of the Tesco branded software,’ said Formjet’s chairman Lyndon Chapman. ‘The level of sales has been good and we hope that the online availability will further help to drive demand.’
