The product acts as a hub for all the PCs in your home, managing back-ups, and allowing all the computers on the network to share music, photos, videos and other files.

Windows Home Server will eventually come pre-installed on dedicated hardware, such as HP’s Media Smart Server. The server won’t have its own monitor, but will be accessed via software on the client PCs.

Microsoft has already enrolled more than 100,000 beta testers for Windows Home Server, but is now making the software available to anyone who registers here.
