ITN has signed an agreement with Joost to distribute news, sport, business programmes and weather forecasts on the p2p TV streaming service.

The broadcaster will also provide a show called Movie Buff, featuring movie news and interviews with actors, and On This Day in History, ITN’s series of 90-second long shows on historical events.
The move is be the latest of several internet deals for ITN, which already distributes its shows on Google Video and Blinkx. Joost, too, already has several content deals in place, showing programmes from MTV, Paramount and Five, amongst others.
“Joost is undoubtedly spearheading the way in making this exciting new phase of television a reality, so it is great to have the chance to work alongside them,” says Nicholas Wheeler, Managing Director of ITN ON, the web services division of the broadcaster. “It is not going to be easy but ITN has always been a pioneering company and we see our programming as a good fit for an innovative platform like Joost.”
Joost recently opened its registration process, ending their invitation-only testing period. The company also recently released a Mac version of its application, increasing the potential audience for the service significantly.
