Tiscali has somewhat belatedly joined the 2Mbps broadband market, revising prices across its entire ADSL product range in the process.
The Italian-owned ISP calls its 2Mbps offering Broadbandx40, while its 1Mbps and 512Kbps are Broadbandx20 and Broadbandx10 respectively, and prices them at £19.99 for the fastest service and £15.99 for the other two.
Usage allowances are capped at 15GB for 2MBps, 2GB for 1Mbps and 30GB for 512Kbps and include upstream traffic. Additional gigabytes cost £1.50 each.
Line activation is free but there is a minimum 12-month contract.
Potential subscribers should note that as Tiscali, unlike most other ISPs, uses the BT Datastream product, there is currently no simple migration route if you wish to change to another provide after the 12 month period is up. However BT Wholesale is expected to enable single migrations from Datastream to IP Stream products (as used by the majority of ISPs) some time soon.
