Radeon HD 4850 receives early speed boost
ATI has released a hotfix for its Radeon HD 4850 graphics card, less than a week after the card was announced.
The release notes suggest the hotfix is intended to “improve overall performance and stability” of the graphics card, which will take on Nvidia’s considerably more expensive 9800 GTX in the mid range gaming market.
While the Radeon HD 4850 performed superbly in our first look, ATI clearly feels the first of its 4000 series cards has more to give. Though, quite why the company felt the need to rush out a hotfix rather than bundle the improvements with the latest catalyst drivers remains unclear.
For those interested in squeezing those extra frames from Crysis, the hotfix is available here.
