Tiscali joins 2Mbps broadband fray

2Mbps broadband looks to be the new front line for ADSL price wars, as Tiscali joins the fray by reducing its price to £17.99 a month.

This brings it in line with Wanadoo, which announced a 2Mbps service at the same price last week, and BT, which promoted all its Broadband Basic customers to that bandwidth a few days ago.

Wanadoo employs a 2GB download cap for the service at this price, while Tiscali sets this at 15GB.

But Tiscali’s £17.99 is clearly launched to take the wind out of its rivals’ announcements. The offer of 2Mbps at this price is valid until the end of the month – six days – after which the price returns to £19.99 a month.

Even so, Tiscali told us that if you do sign up within the offer period, you will be able to get that price for the full 12 months of the contract.
