Internet portal, Yahoo! has signed a deal to offer video clips from two of the US’s biggest cable news network CNN and ABC News according to Reuters.
The news clips service will go live on Yahoo in September. It will be freely available and be supported by advertising and be integrated with Yahoo! News.
The move is the latest in the continuing battle for dominance in the search market. The trick of indexing video clips from TV shows was trialled by Google video at the beginning of the year. This in itself was seen as a reaction to the launch of Yahoo Video at the end of last year.
Microsoft’s MSN has been offering news video clips for some years via its MSNBC news service.
Last month the audio and video search startup blinkx, which works in the same area, added a coupl eof new elements to the mix: blinkx video search adds RSS and podcasting.
