Google turns blue

Problems with a content filter on Google’s recently launched Google Base turned the classifieds service blue as a slew of adult content flooded into unsuspecting browsers.

It appears there was a problem with the ‘Safe Search’ filter that failed to block the many thousands of pornographic content items apparently already on the service, despite it being barely a week old.

A spokesperson for the company told News.com that the filter was indeed broken, and for ‘some period of time’, although quite how long that was remained undisclosed.

The filter now appears to be functioning normally although the sheer amount of salacious material posted to the service is shocking.
