Google has announced that Google Talk is now open to anyone, not just subscribers to the company’s Gmail email service.

Google Talk was unveiled last year and provides instant messaging, voice calls and voicemail, and file transfers.
There is also a Google Talk client for BlackBerry handhelds, available from
blackberry.com/GoogleTalk/index.do (Internet Explorer required).
However some services, including chat histories and mail notifications, will still only work if you sign into Google Talk with a Gmail account.
For more information and to download Google Talk go to google.com/talk.
