Online sales giant eBay has launched its eBay Express service in the UK.
Debuted in the US earlier this year, eBay Express is a marketplace for selected ‘professional sellers’ to market their ranges of new goods and services, instantly at a fixed price.
The service is likely to take on existing volume Internet suppliers in the UK ranging from Amazon to Tesco. It is also likely to take the wind out of the similar GoogleBase, which was introduced earlier this year but has so far proved disappointing.
eBay Express covers all the major product categories including computers, DVDs, music, home, health and beauty and garden products. Payment is either by credit card or through eBay’s own PayPal online banking service.
Each of the vendors on eBay Express is committed to providing a seven day sale or return service. As a further incentive to buyers, eBay Express says it offers a full customer protection service. The company says that if customers do not receive the goods or they are unsuitable and the vendor does not honour its agreement, eBay will refund the price of the purchase, including postage.
