EasyCruise auctions dock at eBay
easyCruise and eBay are linking up to encourage online bidders to choose a cruise. The deal between the two brands will allow customers to start bidding at just £1 or hit the ‘buy it now’ price from £30 per person for a two-night trip.
‘Our primary business has always come via our internet site, easyCruise.com, so to link with the world’s online market place is obviously a perfect fit,’ said Stelios Haji-Ioannou, one of the pioneers of low cost transport.
EasyCruise currently offers trips on the French and Italian Rivieras and around Holland and Belgium. A Caribbean itinerary will be available in the next few weeks.
Haji-Ioannou, the son of a Greek Cypriot shipping tycoon, launched easyCruise last year in a bid to emulate the success he has enjoyed after he set up easyJet in 1995. The airline became synonymous with low-cost, no frills service and helped change the way European airlines operate.
About 1.5 million Britons are expected to go on a cruise by 2008, a 50 percent increase on the 2004 figures, according to the Passenger Shipping Association.
