HP is abandoning its digital camera manufacturing business, though it intends to maintain the brand.

The company is currently hunting around for an OEM partner which will design, build and distribute digital cameras under the HP brand.
HP plans to carry on building its cameras over Christmas, but says it will have a partnership agreement in place in time for the first half of 2008.
The company expects the change in strategy to cost it around $30 million in its fourth quarter, but says the move is necessary in order for it to focus on its recently announced Print 2.0 business, which is focused on home printing and printing images from websites.
The company is also hoping to concentrate on selling more home photo-printers.
