The whole point of having an iPhone or other cell phone is to be able to stay in contact with others and use it so you always have a connection to others in the world, wherever you are. However, we have all experienced those few times where we are unable to get service or can’t connect to the network.

Whether this happens when you are trying to call your friend or trying to Google something, it always happens to occur at the most inopportune times. It can be extremely annoying, and most people don’t know what to do other than just wait and hope that service or a connection magically reappears.

However, did you know that there are actually a couple of things you can try that might actually be able to do that could fix the issue? While the tips and tricks we are going to show in this article aren’t guaranteed to recover your service or network connection on your iPhone 6S, they have worked for many people in the past.

So without any further ado, let’s look at a number of different things you can do to try and fix the problem of having no service or network connection on your iPhone 6S device.

Make Sure You Are In an Area Where There Is Decent Service

Before trying anything else on this list, it is totally possible that your location might be the reason why you can’t get service or make a network connection. If you are out in the wilderness, in the mountains or in a very rural area, that could easily explain why you are not getting good service. If you are in an area like that, try moving to another location and see if that helps to improve your service or connection.

Try Turning Airplane Mode On and Off

While many may not think to try this option, it has had some success in helping people solve a wide variety of cell connection issues. All you have to do is turn airplane mode on, leave it on for about a minute, and then turn it off once again. Hopefully, this fixed your issue, but if not, go on to the next tip!

Restart Your iPhone 6S

If those first few steps haven’t worked, it might be time to try and restart your device. This is relatively quick to do and can sometimes be all that your phone needs to fix a small issue like this. There are two different ways to restart your device. One way is to press the power button on the side of the device until the slider comes up, and then sliding it over to turn off your device. Then once the phone has been off for a few seconds, press and hold the same button again to restart the phone. The other way is completed by pressing the power button and the home button down for about 10 or so seconds, until the phone turns off and then the Apple logo comes on. This is called a hard reset, and is also good to use when your phone is frozen or unresponsive.

Check For Updates to Your Carrier Settings

The reason for your phone not being able to connect might have to do with your carrier settings. If your devices carrier settings are not up to date, you might have some connection issues. Thankfully, it is very easy to manually check and install carrier settings updates. All you have to do is go to Settings, then General and then About. If an update is available, you will see an option for an update. Once you make that update, that might be able to help you be able to connect to a network or get service once again.

Remove the SIM Card and then Put it Back In

The SIM card in your device could possibly be the reason why you are unable to find service or connect to a network. In order to check if your SIM card is the issues, you should remove it from your device. If it is damaged or doesn’t fit, you should contact your carrier to see what you should do next. If it isn’t damaged, put it back in the device, restart the iPhone, and see if that worked in restoring your service or network connection.

Reset Your Network Settings

Sometimes, all it takes to have your phone working like new again is to reset your network settings. Thankfully, like most of the fixes within this article, this can be done quite easy and won’t take much time at all. Simply go to Settings, then General, then Reset and finally, Reset Network Settings. This resets everything from cellular settings, wifi networks and more.

Update to the Latest Version of iOS

Updating your device to the latest version of iOS is a good way to fix a large number of different little problems you can experience, such as the one this article is focused on. While updating your device to a new version of iOS is one of the most time-consuming fixes in this list, it can be one that is very fruitful. All you have to do is to go to Settings, then General and then click on Software Update and that will let you know if you have an available update.

Restore Your Device To Its Factory Settings

If nothing else in this article works, you will need to restore your device to what it was like when you first took it out of the box. This can fix a lot of different things and can give your iPhone a “fresh start”. Before you ever decide to restore your device, you need to ensure you have a backup created so that you don’t lose all of your files, data, apps and settings on your device. Once a backup is created, you can go ahead and restore your device. This is done by going to Settings, then General, then Reset and then clicking on Erase All Content and Settings.
