Symantec Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition review

£33
Price when reviewed

On a price-based comparison, things are less clear cut. Although Norton nominally retails for £10 more than ZoneAlarm, it’s possible to find it for £10 less. If you’re already happy with your existing firewall and anti-virus protection, we have no hesitation in recommending this month’s Labs-winning PC Tools Spyware Doctor to take care of your anti-spyware needs, and at £23 it’s good value. If you want an all-in-one security suite that will also keep spyware off your system, ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6 takes the honours. Existing Norton users will do better to wait for the release of version 2006, rather than spending the £23 upgrade fee for the addition of a mediocre anti-spyware component that underperforms standalone applications costing less. All of this leaves Symantec looking stuck between the ZoneAlarm rock and PC Tools’ hard place.
