At £60, the PC 145 isn’t only uncomfortable, it’s also overpriced. Sennheiser blames this on the conversion box that connects the analog headset to your PC’s digital USB port, but when Plantronics can provide something nigh-on identical for less than half the price the argument is less convincing. You can pick up the headset on its own for around £30 if you’re willing to forego the USB adaptor, but even then the Plantronics .Audio 45 remains a far better deal.

Gripes aside, the PC 145 provides all you’d expect of a VoIP headset. Installation is a breeze and it has a noise-cancelling microphone for optimal call quality. You can bend this away from your lips, but we always found it slowly crept back and was soon touching us again. On a brighter note, cable management is excellent in the form of a dedicated, if slightly chunky, oval spool.
