Plustek OptiCard 820 review

Price when reviewed

If you continually discover small caches of business cards in your wallet, drawers and briefcase, it’s time to archive and get rid of them with a business card reader. The OptiCard 820 is small enough to tuck into even the most crowded briefcase. It even draws its power from the USB port it’s connected to, so you don’t need to carry a power adapter. The scanner itself has a maximum resolution of 600dpi, but scanning at 300dpi yielded good results. We found that business cards in both landscape and portrait orientations scanned and recognised well, although those with coloured backgrounds and more exotic fonts consistently proved stumbling blocks. If you find yourself accumulating standard business cards at an alarming rate, however, the OptiCard 820 is a good impulse buy.
