As with the Panasonic, you can set up an FTP forwarding service, so if the camera’s motion detection is triggered a series of images before and after the event will be sent to an FTP server. There’s also the option to send you an alert via email.

Image quality was the best here – 30fps at 640 x 480 provides an excellent picture of what’s going on, although you’ll need a suitably quick ADSL connection to properly access the camera via the internet – our 512Kb/sec connection wasn’t adequate for anything more than 320 x 240. The only niggle we had is that focusing is manual via a ring on the front of the lens – if something plants itself in front of the camera, you’ll have to wait until you’re physically present to correct it.
