Scandyna Micropod SE review

£170
Price when reviewed

The compact Micropod SE speakers contain an active amplifier rated at 100W RMS in one unit, with a 3mm stereo input, volume/power dial and spring clamps to connect the second speaker. The closed cabs contain a 70mm Kevlar driver and 19mm tweeter, which is rated at 10W RMS. The frequency response is restricted, naturally, but the Micropods do at least know their limits and roll off sharply at the lower end. Stereo imaging and clarity at higher frequencies is impressive, but then we’d hope so for this price. If size and neatness are everything to you, they’re worth a look and a listen, but with the optional subwoofer costing £320 inc VAT, the fact remains that you can get a lot more speaker for your money elsewhere.
