Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss review

£26
Price when reviewed

Sounding rather like a tin of paint, Ilford’s Smooth Gloss displayed very different characteristics to its Classic Gloss paper.

Although Classic had the upper hand overall, Smooth Gloss was better in Epsons, where it proved similar to the reference prints. Since both the top-end Epsons have fade-resistance inks, the R240 and R340 show that Smooth Gloss isn’t perfect: we saw a loss of red saturation in their prints.

In other printers, we never saw above moderate results. With poor results compared to the Classic Gloss paper but the same price, we simply can’t recommend it.
