For a little under £100, the DSC-W35 sports a 7.2-megapixel sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens from Carl Zeiss. It may only have a 2in TFT, but the W35 shows multiple points onscreen to indicate focus lock.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35 review

You can choose between multi-, centre-weighted or spot metering, and there’s flash compensation to increase or reduce flash power. There’s a live histogram, and sharpness and contrast can be altered in-camera.

Overall image quality is superb for the money. Images have great levels of detail and not too much noise indoors. It was also good to see noise kept at bay with high ISO settings in low light. Macro ability is excellent, and the quality of video clips was superb. With a great battery and 56MB of memory, the DSC-W35 is a bargain.
