The SlimLine BMC (baseboard management card) offers good remote access. Once you have supplied an IP address from the BIOS setup screen, you can access the card via a web browser. Here, you will find a well-designed interface that rivals HP’s RiLO for features. The system status screen provides full details on all component temperatures, speeds, voltages and so on, while the error log shows all events, including any modifications to the BIOS or failed logons to the BMC. Remote-control sessions can be fired up easily and you have full access to all power settings plus a schedule.

IBM eServer xSeries 346 review

There is no denying IBM’s servers exemplify good build quality, but we have often found them wanting in the design department. The xSeries 346 changes all that. It offers a range of features that rivals equivalent rack servers from HP and Dell and delivers them in a quality package that clearly shows IBM’s attention to detail.
