In Chrome, Google.com is set as the default homepage. Browsers like Mozilla and Opera display your most visited sites and other useful info on the homepage instead.

However, the Android browser has both options. Here’s how to set its homepage to the most visited sites and how to customize the homepages of other popular browsers.
Default Android Browser
Compared to the ubiquitous Chrome, the stock browser is a fairly neglected option for web surfing on Android devices. However, it is a well-made browser. If you prefer the Android’s default option, here’s how you can set its homepage to your liking.
- Tap the browser’s icon on the Home screen and launch the app. On some devices, the icon might be named “Internet”.
- Tap the “Main Menu” icon. It is usually located at the upper-right corner of the browser window.
- Select the “Settings” tab from the drop-down menu.
- When the “Settings” menu opens, tap the “General” tab. If your browser doesn’t have a “General” tab, skip this step.
- Next, select the “Set homepage” tab.
- The browser will then show you the list of options. Tap “Most visited sites”.
- Next, tap the “OK” button to save your choice.
- Close the browser for the changes to take effect.
- Re-launch the browser.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome is the most popular web browser among Android users. Virtually every phone and tablet has it installed as part of the Google apps suite that’s bundled with the OS. Chrome’s default homepage is Google and it doesn’t allow users to set the homepage to most visited sites. However, you can change the homepage address through the app’s settings. Follow these steps.
- Launch the Chrome app.
- Tap on the “Main Menu” icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Next, select the “Settings” tab.
- In the “Basics” section, select the “Homepage” tab.
- Tap on the “Open this page” tab. Make sure that the slider next to the “On” option is activated.
- Chrome will open a text field where you can manually type the address you want to see when you launch the app or open a new tab.
- Type the address and tap the “Save” button.
Mozilla Firefox
Fans of Mozilla Firefox can also customize the browser’s homepage on their Android device. Its default start page offers users three choices: Top sites, bookmarks, and history. The top sites option is selected by default.
However, if you’d like a specific website as your homepage, here’s how to set it in Firefox.
- Launch Firefox.
- Tap on the “Main “Menu” icon at the upper-right corner of the browser’s window.
- Select the “Settings” tab near the bottom of the drop-down menu.
- Next, select the “General” tab.
- Once the “General” tab opens, select the “Home” tab.
- In the “Homepage” section of the “Home” menu, tap the “Set a Homepage” tab.
- Select the “Custom” option.
- Type in the address of the site you want as your homepage.
- Tap the “OK” button.
Opera
Opera is, along with Mozilla, a prominent alternative to Chrome available to Android users. Opera’s default search engine is Google and you can’t change its homepage the way you can with Chrome or Firefox. However, you can add sites to the “Speed Dial” reel. Here’s how it’s done.
- Launch Opera.
- Tap the “+” button next to the default speed dial sites.
- Enter the name and the address of the site you want to add.
- Tap the checkmark at the top-right corner of the browser window.
To remove a site from the speed dial reel, tap and hold it. When the “Delete” and “Edit” options appear at the top of the screen, drag and drop it on the “Delete” (trashcan) section.
You can also create Home screen shortcuts for your favorite sites. To do that, follow these steps.
- Tap the Opera icon to launch the browser.
- Tap the Google search bar at the top of the screen and search for your favorite site.
- Navigate to the site you want to add to your device’s Home screen.
- Tap the “Menu” icon at the upper-right corner of the browser window.
- Next, tap the “Home Screen” option at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
- Name your “Home Screen”.
- Tap the “Add” button.
