How to Make Your Logo Bigger on Shopify

When you’re creating your online business on Shopify, you want it to look amazing. You want to attract more customers, but at the same time, it should be representative of who you are.

That’s why designing the right logo goes a long way. But even if you have the best idea for a logo, you won’t be sure what it’s going to look like until you see it on the page itself.

The design might be right, but what about sizing? If you need to make your logo bigger, how do you do that in Shopify?

Managing Your Logo Dimensions

One of the reasons Shopify is one of the best eCommerce websites in the world is because it does most of the work for you.

Sure, there’s a lot you have to do on your own, but when it comes to making everything look fantastic, Shopify really delivers. Your main concern is choosing the theme you want for your online business, and then adding and organizing items you wish to sell.

You can also add text and upload images, which includes your logo. The dimensions of your logo can, of course, be changed. But you have to access and edit HTML/CSS code. Note that your logo can be either text or an image.

The process of enlarging each of them is very similar. But if you’re not sure if you have a text or image logo in the Shopify theme, there is a way to check:

  1. Right-click on your logo and select “Inspect element” from the menu.
  2. Your screen will open the HTML/CSS editing windows. And you’ll able to see if your logo is setup as text or an image.
  3. In case your logo is set as text in the left window, you can see the CSS class for it in the right pane.
  4. Next, you need to navigate to your Shopify admin panel.
  5. Then select “Themes,” followed by “Customize Themes”.
  6. Now select “Edit HTML/CSS followed by “Assets.”
  7. From the list, select “style.css.liquid” and then search for the CSS class of your logo.
  8. When you find it, you’ll be able to see the size of the font. Edit the number to make your logo bigger.
  9. Select “Save”.

Make sure that you refresh your page after you save the changes. And then, go back to the home page to make sure your logo is more prominent now.

You can repeat the same process when you’re trying to make your text logo smaller as well. Plus, if you inspect the element of your page afterwards and see that your logo is set up as an image, you can still make it bigger or smaller.

All you have to do is follow steps 1-6, but instead of “Assets,” select “Configs”. Then you need to locate the lines in HTML for the logo image. You can edit the logo width and height there.

By default, the dimensions are set up in pixels. Adjust the dimensions any way you like and then refresh the page again.

How to Make a Great Shopify Logo

All major brands are recognized by their logo. If your goal is to go from a small online store to a huge brand, having an attention-grabbing logo is essential.

When it comes to Shopify themes, most of them let store owners upload their custom logo. However, often there are some restrictions when it comes to the space your logo can have on the page.

But that doesn’t mean you still don’t have a lot of freedom, just that there are limitations. Here are a few other tips to consider when creating a logo for your Shopify store.

Know Your Brand

Before you start thinking about how big you want your logo to be, make sure that you’re confident about what you’re selling. Does your product have a clear identity and purpose?

If so, pouring that into a corresponding logo design will be much easier. Focus on what makes it unique, and how you want your future customers to perceive it.

Glance at the Competition

This isn’t an invitation to poach ideas, but to examine the sort of trends to avoid. If a brand in the industry of your choice is particularly successful, ask yourself what makes it different. It’s okay for other logos to inspire you, but it’s not okay to steal ideas.

Be Mindful About Color

Picking out the color can be difficult. It’s not an easy decision, like selecting the shirt you’ll buy for work. And it can be especially overwhelming when it’s your Shopify logo.

Colors bring a lot of meaning, and people respond to them in all kinds of ways. Think about what you’re trying to convey with your product and how well it matches the color of your logo.

Bigger Isn’t Always Better

When it’s time to upload your logo, you might be tempted to make it as big as possible. And why not? If it’s a great logo and there’s room, it could be a good idea. But that’s not always the case.

Not every memorable logo is huge, some, in fact, are quite discreet in size. Whatever you decide, just remember that you have to access HTML/CSS code to edit the dimensions of your logo. And before you make any steps, think about what makes a logo stand out.
