We already knew that the PlayStation VR would benefit from Sony’s gaming expertise, but Sony has just revealed the most tantalising glimpse yet. In an interview with Eurogamer, SCE president Shuhei Yoshida hinted that the next Gran Turismo will be optimised for the PlayStation VR.
“Many trial tests we’ve been doing, some genres work just fine,” said Yoshida. “One of those genres is racing games. So when Gran Turismo comes out on PS4, I’d like to see it support PlayStation VR.”
While that’s not the most solid confirmation, Yoshida is one of people best placed to make it happen – he’s also on the board of directors of Polyphony Digital, which makes Gran Turismo.
A VR racing game isn’t new – many PC sim racers such as Project CARS already support the Oculus Rift – so it makes sense for Sony to bring its flagship racer to the PlayStation VR.
