Virgin Media has an exclusive agreement to bring the Spotify music streaming service to television sets, it announced today.

Spotify will be made available to Virgin Media’s four million cable broadband customers via a bespoke, jointly developed app on the company’s TiVo set-top boxes.
Existing customers will get the first opportunity to sign up for the new service, which is expected to launch in Q4 this year. Full details of the packages have yet to be revealed.
The agreement also means Virgin Media will roll Spotify Unlimited and Premium services into its packages for PC and smartphone owners, although Virgin wouldn’t comment on whether that will come at an extra cost.
The service will launch with special offer rates, and customers with existing Spotify accounts will be eligible.
Spotify has previously branched out into home entertainment devices. Earlier this year it was announced that Spotify was being built into Onkyo home cinema receivers.
Virgin was last week rumoured to be launching a separate music subscription service in tandem with all four of the major record labels.
