This fireball launcher is what’s missing from your life

What do you get the person who has everything? “Something homemade,” you mutter, knitting a substandard scarf. No. The real answer is a £114 wrist-mounted fireball launcher.

The Pyro Mini, made by Ellusionist, is the follow up to last year’s Pyro Fireshooter. As the name suggests, this is a more compact version of that gadget, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. More importantly, it shoots fire. In fact, it can shoot fireballs up to ten feet in the air, and has a burst fire mode that shoots two fireballs at the same time.

Who doesn’t want something like that? I mean, just look at the guy in the picture. He’s standing in the desert shooting fireballs. He might look like a mutant Papa Roach reject, but he’s shooting fire from his hands. The hills are on fire. Is that photoshopped? Did he start a forest fire? Is he flagging down a bus? I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. He can shoot fireballs.

I don’t know about you, but $147 (£114) for a gadget that lets you wield one of nature’s most destructive forces from your sleeve doesn’t sound like the safest of Christmas presents. Ellusionist, however, explains that the two barrels of the device are filled with flash paper, which burns very quickly and only lasts for a split second. It’s also keen to stress on its website that the Pyro Mini is not a toy, and you must be 18 or over to purchase it.

The Pyro Mini is clearly pitched at professional magicians, but if you’re shopping around for a Christmas present that makes you look like a Dragon Ball Z character and has the potential to burn down your house, this could be the one. Then again, you could always start learning a few magic tricks.

Sorry, I mean illusions.
