“No taxation without representation” goes the saying. So why, when you can pay your taxes online, can’t you also vote at gov.uk?

Forward-thinking Estonia is already using the net for local and national elections, but Britain is still committed to crossing a box with a pencil, with no sign that’s going to change any time soon.
