KFC is selling a box meal that doubles up as a drone

KFC, the fast-food company that’s never seemingly scared of doing something a little different with its products, has started selling a box meal in India that doubles as a personal mini-drone.

The KFC box meal has everything you need to build your own UAV. Using parts of the box, along with parts included inside, chicken eaters can head online to find instructions to build their greasy drone.

Aside from the faint smell of dried chicken grease and KFC’s special herbs and spices blend, this KFC drone is your standard microdrone. It’s a quadcopter controlled by an app on your phone and seems to be little more than a bit of novelty rather than something you’ll see out on the drone racing circuit.

The drone is only available via the purchase of KFC India’s new Smoky Grilled Wings, and can only be bought on the 25 and 26 January in select KFC locations.

This isn’t the first time KFC has used technology to pull some crazy stunts. Last year saw KFC release an unnerving VR employee training game, partner with Huawei to release a KFC-branded smartphone, and then KFC India brought out a phone-charging box meal too.
