Elon Musk is at it again.
Not content with building reuasable rockets, designing lunar bases, imaging how we’ll colonise Mars, boring tunnels under the ground and proposing new ways to get around town, the billionaire has another idea up his sleeve.
In the conclusion of his Mars colonisation talk at the International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide, Musk said he envisages one day using the ships he’s building to take humans into space right here on Earth.
In an animated video, Musk showed a version of BFR ship taking off from New York and landing in Shanghai in less than 40 minutes. A journey between LA and Toronto would take just 24 minutes and LA to New York would be 25 minutes. In fact, Musk believes that using space rockets on Earth would mean you could travel anywhere in less than an hour.

“If you built this thing to go to the moon and Mars, then why not go to other places on Earth as well?”
