In this article, we’ll explain how to transfer a call using a variety of devices. We’ll also cover how to transfer a Ringcentral call on a PC, iPhone, and Android, and how to transfer a call directly to voicemail.

How to Transfer a Call on a PC

There are two different methods to transfer a call with Ringcentral on a PC. We’ll explain the differences between a warm and cold call and show you how to transfer below.

How to Transfer a Warm Call on a PC

A warm call is when you’ll first speak to the person before transferring the call to them. To transfer a warm call, follow the steps below:

  1. While on a live call, click on the “Call Actions” button – the icon with the three dots.
  2. From the drop-down menu, click “Transfer.”
  3. A new small window will open. Type in the name or phone number of the person you want to transfer the call to in the window at the top of the screen. You can also type in the number with the keypad or click the clock icon to see a list of recent calls.
  4. You’ll now have three options at the bottom of the box on how to transfer the call. Select “Ask First.”
  5. When the recipient of the call answers, if they want to receive the call, simply click the “Transfer” button – the green circle at the bottom of the box.

After you’ve chosen to make the transfer, your portion of the call will disconnect, allowing the recipient to continue the call.

How to Transfer a Cold Call on a PC

A cold call is the direct transfer of a call without first speaking to caller. To transfer a cold call, please follow these steps:

  1. While on a live call, click on the icon with the three dots, the “Call Actions” button.
  2. From the drop-down menu, click “Transfer.”
  3. In the new window that opened, go to the top of the box and type in the name or phone number of the person you want to transfer the call to. Another method is to use the keypad to type in the phone number or click the clock icon which will show you a list of recent calls.
  4. There will be three options at the bottom of the box with different methods of how to transfer a call. Select “Transfer.”
  5. Click the “Transfer” button on the bottom of the box, the green circle.

Once you click “Transfer,” the call will then be connected to the recipient.

How to Transfer a Call on an iPhone

You can transfer calls on an iPhone using one of two different methods. We’ll explain the two differences and how to transfer the calls below.

How to Transfer a Warm Call on an iPhone

A warm call is when you speak to the recipient of the call before transferring it to them. To transfer a warm call on an iPhone, follow the steps below:

  1. While on a live call, tap on the icon with the three dots. This is the “Call Actions” button.
  2. From the drop-down menu, you’ll see three options. Tap “Transfer.”
  3. A new, smaller screen will open. Using the window on the top, type in the name or the phone number of the person you’d like to transfer the call to. You can also use the keypad to type in the number, or tap on the clock icon to see a list of recent calls.
  4. You’ll now see three options on how to transfer the call. For a warm call, tap “Ask First.”
  5. When the recipient of the call answers, if they want to take the call, simply tap “Transfer.”

Once you tap “Transfer,” your part of the call will disconnect and it will be transferred to the recipient.

How to Transfer a Cold Call on an iPhone

A cold call is when you don’t need to speak to the person you are transferring to, and you’ll put the call through to them directly. To transfer a cold call on an iPhone, follow the steps below:

  1. While on a live call, tap the “Call Action” button – the icon with three dots.
  2. From the drop-down menu, you’ll notice three transfer options. Tap “Transfer.”
  3. A new screen will open. Type in the name or the phone number of the person you want to transfer the call to. You can also use the keypad to type in the phone number, or tap the clock icon to see a list of recent calls.
  4. You have three options on how to transfer the call. For a cold call, tap “Transfer.”
  5. Tap the “Transfer” button – the green circle at the bottom of the screen.

Once you’ve completed the last step, your part of the call will disconnect and it will be transferred to the recipient.

How to Transfer a Call to Voicemail

At times, you may need to transfer a call directly to someone’s voicemail. Please note that you can only transfer a call to voicemail when the person is in your contact list under the same Ringcentral account as yours.

To transfer a call to voicemail, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. While on a live call, tap the icon with three dots. This is the “Call Action” button.
  2. From the drop-down menu, there will be three options. Tap “Transfer.”
  3. A new box will open. Type in the name or the phone number of the person’s voicemail you’d like to transfer the call to. You can also use the keypad to type in the phone number, or tap the clock icon to see a list of recent calls.
  4. You’ll see three options on how to transfer a call. To transfer to voicemail, tap “To Voicemail.”

The call has now been directly transferred to voicemail.

Does Ringcentral have a Caller ID feature?

Yes, it does. If a caller is listed in your contacts, the incoming call will display their name or company name, depending on how it’s saved in your contact list. Also, you’ll be in control of what Caller ID is shown when you make outgoing calls. It can be either your company’s phone number or your company’s name.
