Preparing the Phone for a Factory Reset

It is very easy to do a Local Backup on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. You can then move the backup files to your computer or an SD card. Here is what you need to do:

1. Doing a Local Backup

To perform a Local Backup, you need to follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings App and Select Additional Settings
  • Select Backup & Reset then Select Local Backups
  • Tap Back Up and Check all Your Data
  • Tap Back Up Again and Wait until the Backup is Complete
  • Check the Backup Log after Completion

2. Moving the Backup Files

After you’ve finished backing up your phone, you should move the backup files to your PC or other external storage. Here’s how to do it:

  • Open the Explorer App and Select the Storage Tab
  • Select MIUI Folder then Tap on Backup Folder
  • Select AllBackup Folder and Select the Most Recent Backup Log
  • Tap on More at the Bottom of the Screen
  • Select Copy and Move Files to the Desired Destination

How to do a Factory Reset:

After you’ve completed the backup, you need to take the following steps to perform a factory reset:

1. Launch the Settings App

Once inside the Settings App, swipe to Additional Settings and tap to enter the menu.

2. Select Backup & Reset

When you enter Additional Settings, swipe to Backup and Reset and tap to access all the options.

3. Select Factory Data Reset

Tap to open Factory Data Reset and enable Erase Stored Content. The Erase Stored Content action will delete all of the data stored on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

4. Select Reset Phone

After you’ve enabled Erase Stored Content, tap on the Reset Phone icon at the bottom of the menu.

5. Enter Your Password

A window will appear asking you to type in your password to confirm the reset. Type in the password and tap next

6. Type Your Mi-Account Password

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will ask you for the Mi Account password. Enter the password and tap on Ok.

7. Confirm the Reset

After you’ve entered the Mi password, the phone will ask you to confirm the factory reset. You should tap on Erase to initiate the process.

8. Wait Until All the Data is Erased

When you tap on the Erase option, the phone will start removing all of the data from your phone. You can observe the progress bar at the bottom of the screen to check on the status of the factory reset.
