Mirroring your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3’s screen to that of your TV or PC is a great feature. It allows you to watch photos, recordings, presentations, shows, and movies on a much bigger screen, which will be not just easier on your eyes but will also provide you with a much deeper experience.

It is very easy to boot. Keep reading to learn more about this useful feature.

Screen Mirroring to Smart TV or PC via Miracast

This method will work for smart TV sets that support Miracast. It is a popular wireless screen mirroring technology and many modern TVs are capable of it.

Here are the exact steps to set up your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 to display its contents on a big screen via Miracast:

STEP 1: Tap Settings, then More.

STEP 2: Select Wireless display to enable it.

At this point, your smartphone will start looking for any Miracast-enabled displays in the neighborhood.

STEP 3: Choose a device to stream to from the provided list. All done!

As soon as you do that, your phone will become linked and you will see its screen on the TV. At the same time, you will see a notification on the small screen, informing you that your phone is “Casting Screen”. Selecting it will open a pop-up window that allows you to disconnect from the TV and stop mirroring.

The exact same method will work for your PC out of the box, as long as you run Win 8 or Win 10. If your PC is Miracast-enabled, you will see it in the list provided in STEP 2. Simply select it and you are done.

Screen Mirroring to PC via MI PC Suite

You may be using an older OS on your PC or its hardware might not be fully compatible with Miracast. In that case, you can use Xiaomi’s official phone manager software, MI PC Suite.

MI PC Suite has an interesting feature that allows you to easily screencast your phone to your PC screen via a USB port. Follow these easy steps:

STEP 1: Download and install MI PC Suite from Xiaomi’s website.

STEP 2: Run the software on your PC.

STEP 3: Connect your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 via your computer’s USB port.

At this point, you will be presented with three options in the bottom-left corner of the application. Select the middle one (labeled “Screencast”). As soon as you do that, your phone’s screen will be mirrored to your PC screen.

Final Words

Mirroring your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 to your TV or a computer screen is easy thanks to the Miracast technology. The same method will work for your PC, but you can also use Xiaomi’s MI PC Suite software to mirror to your PC display.

Things can get a little more complicated if your TV doesn’t support Miracast, as the Redmi Note 3 doesn’t support screen mirroring via its USB-C, so you wouldn’t be able to use any of those USB-C to HDMI adapters which are widely available in the market.

Other solutions exist, like a Chromecast dongle, but it isn’t really a mirroring solution, just a streaming one. The difference between mirroring and streaming (casting) is that you are limited to particular apps being able to transmit their picture using the streaming technology. While this might still be useful for watching Netflix or YouTube, it won’t allow you to physically mirror your phone’s screen onto a bigger one.
