Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 – Not Receiving Calls – What to Do
Your smartphone is supposed to be able to receive calls from anywhere, but what happens when no incoming calls can come through to your device? If you aren’t receiving the calls you should, try these troubleshooting tips for your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
These tips may be common sense, but sometimes things like this happen. So before you try more in-depth troubleshooting options, check to see if any of these simple fixes solves the problem.
If your device is on Flight/Airplane Mode, it may stop you from receiving calls. Check if Flight Mode is shut off by swiping downwards from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings and Notifications. If it is off, the plane icon will be grayed out.
You may also want to check your Call Forwarding settings. Go to your Phone app and then tap on the Menu icon to open the phone settings menu.
Tap on Call Forwarding and make sure that “Always forward” is toggled off.
Also, make sure that the calls you are missing are not on your Blocklist. To check this, go back to your Phone settings menu and tap on Blocklist.
Check for Network Outages
This may be a simple solution but it’s worth a try. Make sure that your network carrier isn’t experiencing outages or that you aren’t in a dead zone.
Troubleshooting Tip #1 – Clear Phone Data Cache
If none of the quick fixes above work, you may want to try clearing the data cache for your phone dialer. To do this, follow the steps below.
Step 1 – Access Settings
Access your phone’s Settings menu by tapping on the icon from the Home screen. You can also access the Settings menu via your Notification panel or if you have programmed Quick Ball buttons enabled.
Step 2 – Apps Menu
From the Settings menu, scroll down to the App Settings section. Tap on “Installed apps” to open the next sub-menu.
Step 3 – Clear Data
Finally, scroll to your phone dialer app and select it. Tap on “Clear data” located near the bottom of the screen.
Troubleshooting Tip #2 – Factory Reset
Factory resetting your phone shouldn’t be taken lightly. However, if you’ve tried other troubleshooting solutions with no success, this may be your only option.
Step 1 – Back Up Your Data
If you haven’t already done so, you need to back up your data first. You can do this via the Backup & Reset option from the Settings menu of your phone. Perform an internal backup or back up to the Mi Cloud instead. The latter option makes it easier to restore your phone afterward.
Step 2 – Reset Your Phone
Next, from your Home screen, tap on your Settings icon and then go to “Additional settings”.Choose “Backup & Reset” from the next sub-menu and tap on “Factory Reset” near the bottom of the screen. Confirm your choice on the next screen to perform the reset.
You may want to exhaust the quick troubleshooting tips first before doing a factory reset. This type of reset is typically a last resort since it deletes all of your data. If you still can’t receive calls even after doing the reset, you may want to contact tech support for further assistance.
