Instead of availing a handful of emojis, BeReal has only five, which you can use to react to posts as they are. Alternatively, you can give the emojis a human twist by taking their real-life expression using the front-facing camera.

Sometimes real photos, especially those mimicking expressions, might be flawed on the first take. You might react to a post and realize the RealMoji doesn’t turn out as expected. Other times, you might react in a way that doesn’t match how you feel about a post. Here are the methods to change your emoji or RealMoji reactions on BeReal.

Changing Your BeReal Emoji on a Post

If you have reacted with a mismatched emoji on somebody’s post, you can easily change it without the post’s owner getting a notification. Here is how you do it on your Android or iPhone:

1. Open your BeReal app and tap “Global” on your account home page. This takes you to other users’ posts.
   
2. Navigate to the post with the RealMoji you want to edit and tap it to open.
   
3. Select the emoji you want to replace the current one with. You’ll have changed your emoji reaction on the post.
   

If you run an Android device, you can also use this method, which is slightly different from the above one:

1. Launch your BeReal app and open the post with the emoji you want to adjust.

Changing BeReal Emoji on a Post Using the Lightning Bolt

Besides the five emoji reactions, BeReal also includes a lightning bolt feature. It allows you to react to a post using an instant RealMoji or a live reaction. It’s handy if you can’t find an emoji that suits your reaction to a BeReal post.

You can find the lightning bolt on your emoji menu towards the right. When you tap it, it immediately launches the front camera for you.

An instant RealMoji is a one-time use reaction: you can’t save it on your emoji menu. So, to replace your current emoji reaction on a post with an instant RealMoji, you need to remove or delete the RealMoji first.

Here is how you delete your emoji reaction on a post on your Android or iPhone:

1. Open your BeReal app and tap “Global” beneath your profile.
   
2. Go to the post with the emoji reaction you want to replace.
   
3. Tap the “Emoji icon” at the bottom right to display emojis.
   
4. Towards the left, you’ll find the active emoji highlighted. Tap it once to delete it.
   

If you’re using an Android phone, you can use this alternative method:

1. Open the BeReal post with the emoji reaction you want to replace and tap the emoji icon.
   
2. Locate your active emoji towards the right and “Double-tap” on it. This opens a “Vertical three-dots” menu on top of your emoji.
   
3. Tap the “Three-dots” menu and select “Delete RealMoji.”
   

For an iPhone, you can also delete your emoji reaction as follows:

1. Open the BeReal post with the reaction you want to edit and tap the “Emoji icon.”
2. Tap on your active emoji and select your username beside it.
3. Choose “Remove my RealMoji,” which will automatically delete your reaction.

1. Tap the “Emoji icon” at the bottom to display your emojis and RealMojis.
   
2. Towards the right of the emoji bar, tap and hold the lightning bolt. This launches the camera for you to make an emoji reaction. If you can’t see your face properly on the camera, adjust the slider to fit your face perfectly into the camera frame.
   
3. Make your emoji reaction and release the lightning bolt. This sends a live reaction to the post. If you don’t like your instant RealMoji, you can delete it and retake it.
   

Changing BeReal Emoji on the Emoji Menu

BeReal allows you to have one RealMoji for each of its five emoji reactions. If you have a saved RealMoji that you’re satisfied with, you can delete it and replace it with a new one. Here is how you do it:

1. Launch your BeReal app on your Android or iPhone.
   
2. Tap “Global” at the top and open any post.
   
3. Select the “Emoji icon” in the bottom right corner to display emojis and your RealMojis.
   
4. Press down your finger on the RealMoji you want to change for around three seconds until the “Delete icon” (a red X) appears. Once it appears, tap on it to delete the RealMoji.
   
5. Select the emoji whose RealMoji you’ve deleted on the emoji menu. A camera preview screen appears for you to take a reaction picture.
