How to install a VPN on a Fire TV Stick
Aside from protecting your privacy, virtual private networks (VPNs) make it possible for you to trick websites into thinking you are in another country, giving you access to a whole host of geo-specific content.
To watch TV shows and films on Amazon outside of your region you can install a VPN on your Amazon Fire TV Stick, and there are a couple of methods to do so. One is more complicated than the other so will depend on your level of skill, or confidence.
The easier route is to download VPN apps from Fire TV Stick’s built-in app store, but the choice is limited. Your options include IPVanish and Private VPN.

How to install VPN on a Fire Stick
Step 1To install an app, go to the Fire TV Stick’s homepage on your TV or device and click Apps.
Step 2Go to Categories, Utilities, and select IPVanish VPN. Another option is VyperVPN. Both VPNs require you to have an account and this must be done on a desktop before you try to sign in to the account on the Fire TV Stick.
Step 3Alternatively, you can sideload apps using their APK files, or by downloading the Google Play Store app to increase the number of apps available. This is a little more complicated. Find out how to install Google Play on your Amazon Fire TV Stick.
Step 4Once you have installed Google Play, you can install a VPN on your Fire TV Stick as you would from the standard app store. For this example, we are going with OpenVPN. READ NEXT: Best VPNs of 2017
Step 5Go to your Settings on the Fire TV Stick, click Applications, Manage All Installed Applications, find OpenVPN in the list and follow the instructions to install it.
Step 6The next step – which can actually be done at any previous point – is to change your location on Amazon. Installing certain VPN apps should bypass the need to do this, but not all apps do it to the same level of success so it’s a worthwhile step.
