YouTube TV allows you to record shows, events, and games and watch them for later. There is a problem, though. You can’t record only one episode of a show on YouTube TV. The record option saves all of the available episodes of the said show.
Read on for instructions, in-depth discussion, and some exceptions to this rule.
YouTube TV Recording Guide
YouTube TV is user-friendly and has a seamless UI. Saving shows to the cloud is easy; just follow the steps:
- Sign in to your YouTube TV account on your device of choice.
- Click on the search field at the top of your screen.
- Enter the name of the show you like.
- Click on the top result for your search.
- On the show’s page, select the Add button (+) to the right of your screen.
On the YouTube TV mobile app, you just need to play an episode of your show and long-press the thumbnail. Then, click Add, and you will save it to your Library.
All of the show’s episodes will appear in your YouTube TV library as they air. You can view them whenever you want. YouTube TV will keep your recordings for nine months. After that, the content will be deleted.
You don’t need to pay anything extra for the DVR feature on YouTube TV, which is pretty generous. That brings us to the next topic. Let’s discuss how recording works on this streaming platform.
YouTube TV Recording and Updates
All YouTube TV subscribers have unlimited recording storage on Google’s cloud. You can easily find all the recorded episodes and watch them at your leisure. Sadly, there is no way of dividing the recorded episodes or recording them one at a time.
Some rumors are circling Reddit that YouTube TV is about to introduce a new, promising feature. Allegedly, they will add a mark as a watched option, which you can use to mark all the previously seen episodes.
It should make your YouTube TV more transparent and help you declutter your Library. Since this is not yet officially confirmed, we don’t have an exact date for this update. Have this in mind and look for future updates to YouTube TV.
If you are on Android, use this official link to update the app. Apple users can use this link. If you’re watching YouTube TV via the website, you’ll need to wait for the update.
How to View Recorded Content
Viewing the stuff you record on YouTube TV is easy as a pie. Follow the steps:
- Launch the YouTube TV app, or visit its website.
- Log into your account.
- Select your Library.
- Look for your recently recorded episodes near the bottom of your Library. Click on the episode you want to watch.
You can also access the Scheduled Recordings in your Library. When you add a show to it, all the upcoming episodes will automatically appear in it. Also, this is where you can find the most recent shows and events.
Additionally, you may view the shows or sporting events that are Recording Now in your Library (under Scheduled Recordings). You can use this feature to skip all the annoying ads and enjoy your show or game.
How to Remove Recorded Content
Removing episodes from your YouTube TV Library is just as easy. Follow the instructions:
- Sign in to your YT TV account.
- Use the search bar to find a specific show. Click on the result.
- Tap Remove in the top-right corner of your screen.
All the recorded episodes of this show will disappear from your Library. You can repeat the steps above to remove as many recorded shows as you want.
Unfortunately, you can’t remove reruns and only show the new content on YouTube TV. Even though you can’t record a single episode on YouTube TV, you can save a single sports game. Access the YT TV live guide, and press the More Info button. Finally, tap Add to Library and pick the “single game record” option.
You can also record games from a specific league or even your favorite team in the said league.
All or Nothing
YouTube TV doesn’t allow recording a single episode on YouTube TV – It’s all or nothing. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do but wait for future updates. They are on the way already, with the mark as watched option rumored to arrive soon. It will be beneficial, and perhaps more additions will follow.
Would you like YouTube TV to add the option to record a single episode? Do you think it is already in the works? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
