How to Change the Language in BeReal

The default language in the BeReal app is English. If you don’t understand English or do but prefer to use a different language, you can switch to it. BeReal has a list of supported languages on the “Settings” menu. If you don’t see yours, the company doesn’t support it yet. Moving from English to another language on BeReal is relatively straightforward.

How to Change the Language in BeReal

This article explains everything you need to know.

How to Alter Language in BeReal

Changing language settings on Apple is easier than on Android. It allows you to alter the language settings of any app. That means you can choose a separate language for every app you run on Apple. Also, you can set up the default system language. However, only iOS 13 and newer models can let you adjust the language of each app.

If you’re using an older model, you might have to add the language you plan to use on the BeReal app to the device in this manner:

  1. Tap “Settings” to view a menu.
  2. Select “General” and touch “Language & Region.”
  3. Touch “Add Language” and navigate to the top search bar.
  4. Type the language you want to add in the search bar and tap “Language.” Also, you can set this as the system language if you so desire.
  5. Your device will reboot to accommodate the new language.

After finishing the above steps, you can change the current BeReal language. English will always be the first language in this app. To shift from English to another language setting, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the “Home screen” on your iOS device.
  2. Tap the “Settings” app to view a list of apps.
  3. Browse the apps and tap BeReal.
  4. Touch “Language” under the “Preferred Language” option.
  5. Choose the language option you prefer the most.

If you’re an Android user, you have no choice but to alter the overall system language to the one you want to use in BeReal. Here’s how to change your default system language on Android:

  1. Navigate to “Settings” on your device.
  2. Tap “System” and touch “Language & Input.”
  3. Tap “Edit” and pick the option you want. Additionally, add the dialect you’re targeting.
  4. Now open your “BeReal” app.

Note: Like other apps, BeReal supports only a few languages now. If you can’t find your local language on the list, wait for BeReal to add it.

How to Add a BeReal Post After Changing the Language

After changing your current language in BeReal, you can begin posting again. Perhaps your goal was to prepare posts for an audience that only understands the new language. So, wait for the app to deliver a notification telling you it’s “Time to BeReal.” Then, add a new post like this:

  1. Launch your BeReal app, log in, and tap the “Camera” icon.
  2. Focus the camera on your subject, which can be you or any object in your surroundings.
  3. Touch the Camera button to capture a photo. BeReal will automatically take another photo with the front camera.
  4. If you dislike the photos, press “Retake.” Take more retakes within the two-minute window if you can.
  5. Tap “Send” to finish.

BeReal gives a short window of time to capture a real-time image and share it. That’s why you can only send unfiltered photos to allow others to view you in your most natural state. Unlike your previous posts, your current post will appear in the new language you chose above. If friends like your post, they’ll react with a RealMoji or an emoji-like selfie. Wait until you get a new notification to make another post in your new language.

What to Do if BeReal Doesn’t Update the Language

If your BeReal app doesn’t change the current language, your internet connection could be slow. The app can fail but very rarely. That’s why you should fix your cellular data or Wi-Fi connection and repeat the steps above. If you’re browsing BeReal via public Wi-Fi, turn it off and switch on mobile data.

Swipe down to expose the control panel with Wi-Fi, mobile data, and other features. Turn off the Wi-Fi button and switch on your cellular data. Other reasons why your app may not update the language include:

Your App Is Outdated

An outdated app is vulnerable to bugs and inconsistent performance. So, visit the Google Play Store or App Store and see if there is a new update. Choose “Update” to install the newer version. Close all apps and open the updated BeReal app alone. Change the language setting again and see what happens.

Restart BeReal App

Your app may refuse to work properly because of a temporary software error. Luckily, you can log out of your app and sign in again shortly after. Check if the app has detected the new language.

Restart Your Device

Press the power button for a few seconds or until you see the option to “Restart” your phone. Switch on the device and check if the matter has been resolved.

Check the Current Server Status

If you still can’t update the language setting in the app, check if something is wrong with the BeReal servers. Find out if other BeReal users are facing an outage on Twitter or other social media pages. A site like this can help you check the app status at any time. Since BeReal is still taking its baby steps, it can experience technical hitches that could prevent it from registering language changes or other updates.

Top Nine Languages Available in BeReal

The BeReal app is, at present, available in Europe, America, and Asia. It includes languages that people in these regions speak, including:

  1. English
  2. Spanish

  4. Portuguese
  5. Italian
  6. Chinese
