If you use the trending video editing app CapCut, you might need some assistance mastering its split tool. Made particularly with the TikTok audience in mind, it’s ideal for anyone venturing into the world of video editing.

But it won’t serve you well if you don’t learn how to use it. In this article, we’ll show you how to make and remove a split, on both Android and iOS devices.

The process of cutting a segment of a video and removing the split is quite simple:

Tap the blue “New Project” button at the top center of the screen.
Pick a video you would like to edit, and tap on the little circle in the right corner to mark it, then tap the “Add” button in the lower right corner.
Tap and hold the timeline, on the lower half of the screen, and drag it to the left to find the point where you want to split your video. (Alternatively, you can press play above the timeline and let it come to the same point on its own.)
When you find the scene, leave the white marker line on it, and then tap the “Split” button in the lower left corner.
If you accidentally make a cut at wrong point or hit the split button elsewhere, just tap the “Undo” button to the right from the “Play” button.
Tap the play button again or drag the timeline to the left to find the endpoint of the split.
Once you find the end point, tap “Split” again and the cut segment will be marked with two squares on the timeline.
If you wish to delete the part that you split from the rest, tap on it, and then tap the “Delete” option below.
If you want to keep the split, select the part before it, and tap “Delete.” Next, select the part after it and tap “Delete” again. and then
Save the video you made by tapping “Export” in the upper right corner.

How to Split a Video and Remove Split on iOS

The process of splitting and removing the split part goes as follows:

Launch the app and tap the blue “New Project” button at the top center of the screen.
Choose a video you would like to edit by tapping on the circle in its right upper corner. Then tap “Add” in the lower right corner.
Tap and hold the timeline under the video, then drag it to the left to find the point where you want it split. (As an alternative, you can press play above the timeline and let it come to the same point on its own.)
Find the scene, and leave the white marker line on it. Then tap the “Split” button in the lower left corner.
If you accidentally make a cut at wrong point or hit the split button accidentally, just tap the “Undo” button, to the right from “Play”.
Drag the timeline to the left again, or press “Play”, to find the endpoint of the split.
Once you find the endpoint, tap “Split” again. The cut-out segment will be marked with two squares on the timeline.

In case you want to only keep the split, select the part before it and tap “Delete”, then select the part after it and tap “Delete.”
Save the video you made by tapping “Export” in the upper right corner.
