How to Connect Kindle Fire to Samsung Smart TV

The Kindle Fire is Amazon’s flagship tablet and it is right up there with the big boys. Given the fact that the Kindle Fire was designed with video playing in mind, it would be nice to be able to stream the Kindle Fire content on the big Samsung TV screen.

How to Connect Kindle Fire to Samsung Smart TV

Even though we live in the era of super connectivity, certain devices are still a bit of a pain to connect and Kindle Fire and Samsung smart TVs are no exception here.

How to Do It?

Well, the first question that you should be asking is can you do it? Unfortunately, some Kindle Fire devices simply aren’t compatible with any TV – they aren’t capable of mirroring displays. To see if your Amazon tablet can mirror displays, go to Settings and then to Display. If you don’t see an option called Display Mirroring, your device doesn’t support it. If you see this option, then you can mirror the screen.

There are three main methods to connect your Kindle Fire device to the Samsung smart TV: HDMI Adapter, HDMI Port, and using a Miracast device. Some of these methods may not work on your TV, others may fail to work because of your Kindle Fire tablet, but at least one of these methods should help you establish the connection.

HDMI Adapter

An HDMI adapter cable will likely last you for ages, plus you’ll be able to use it on many different devices, further down the line. All newer Samsung smart TV models support HDMI, so this should work. These fire models should support HDMI adapter connection: HD Kids, HD6, HD7, HD8, HD10, and HDX8.9. This method will likely work with many other devices, but these devices are guaranteed to work by Amazon.

You can find the HDMI adapter on Amazon or another eCommerce website.

Now, simply connect the Kindle Fire with your Samsung smart TV with the HDMI cable. To do this, connect the cable to the HDMI port (on the TV) and connect the HDMI adapter to your Kindle Fire device. If you’re having issues finding the HDMI port, consult the user manual.

Now, switch your Samsung TV to the correct HDMI input. This should mirror the Fire Kindle’s screen onto the smart TV.

HDMI Port

If you have the 2012 HD Kindle model, you won’t be able to connect it to a Samsung TV just like that. You’re going to need to connect that Kindle model to the TV using a Micro HDMI cable. This cable should fit into the standard HDMI port on your TV. Think of the Micro HDMI cable as a standard HDMI extension, of sorts.

If you’ve done everything properly, you should see the Kindle Fire’s screen mirrored on your TV.

Miracast

Almost all modern Samsung smart TV models work with Miracast. Should you need it, you can find the Miracast Video Adapter easily, online or otherwise.

Plug in the Miracast device into the HDMI port on your Samsung smart TV and make sure that it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Kindle Fire HDX device. Now, go to your Kindle Fire menu and navigate to Settings. From there, go to Sounds and then Display Mirroring. Now, select the Samsung smart TV device from the list and wait for it to connect.

Buy a Fire TV Device

If you don’t really need to use the screen mirroring feature too often, you’ll make do with one of the above-mentioned solutions. However, if you are in constant need of screen mirroring, you should consider getting a Fire TV box or the Amazon Fire TV Stick (Firestick). These devices connect to your smart TV and bring a range of useful features and apps to the table.

If you connect your Fire TV and your Kindle Fire to the same Wi-Fi network and are register them with the same account, you can create an impeccable HDMI connection. A standard HDMI cable should suffice. Now, just go to Settings, then Display & Sounds, and switch on the Second Screen Notifications option. Use the screen icon on the videos/photos on the tablet to display them on the smart TV.

These devices may seem like too big of an investment, but they are fairly affordable, when considering how many features they bring to the table. Also, some Fire models are equipped with the Display Mirroring feature, found in Display settings.

Kindle Fire Tablets and Samsung Smart TVs

Most Kindle Fire tablet devices should work on most Samsung smart TV models. However, depending on the models, you may have to take a different approach to enable screen mirroring. The safest and the most straightforward way to go would be buying a Fire TV device – these should work on all smart TV and Kindle Fire models.
