Huawei P9 – How to Change Lock Screen

There are many ways to personalize the Lock screen on your Huawei P9. Setting a new wallpaper or a picture of your pet gives a nice custom feel to the Lock screen.

Besides the wallpaper change, you can also enable or disable the weather box and do the same with notifications. In addition, you can always get a third-party app if the wallpapers that come with your P9 don’t suffice.

Get a New Lock Screen Wallpaper

The Huawei P9 comes with a bunch of preinstalled wallpapers that you can choose from. Of course, you can as easily set one of the images from your Library to the Lock screen. But that’s not all.

This Android smartphone comes with an option to randomly change the wallpapers. Whichever option you choose, here are the steps to enable it:

1. Go to Settings

Swipe down and enter the Display menu.

2. Hit Wallpaper

Tap on Wallpaper at the top of the Display menu, then select Set wallpaper.

Tip: The Randomly Change Wallpapers option is located under Set wallpaper. You can toggle the option on by tapping on the button next to it.

3. Select a Wallpaper

Browse through the available wallpapers and tap on the one you want to use.

4. Make Adjustments

There are two types of adjustments you can make – create an illusion effect or scale down the image. Tap on the adjustment icon and drag the slider left or right.

5. Set the Wallpaper

Hit the check icon at the top-right to set the wallpaper and choose Lock screen.

An Extra Tip: You can access the Wallpaper menu more quickly by pressing on the empty space on your Home screen. When the screen zooms out, select Wallpapers from the pop-up menu.

Change Lock Screen Notifications

For safety reasons, the Lock screen notifications might be disabled by default on your Huawei P9. You can enable them in a few easy steps:

1. Launch the Settings App

Tap on the gear icon on your Home screen to access settings, then select Notifications & Status Bar.

2. Access Notifications Management

Select the apps you want to receive notifications from and enable the Display on the Lock Screen option.

Note: Notifications might not display when the fingerprint lock is on. This doesn’t usually happen, but if it does, it is good to know how to disable the fingerprint lock.

Settings > Fingerprint ID > Enter PIN > Hit Next > Disable Unlock Screen

You can easily revert the settings by following the same steps.

Enable Lock Screen Weather

This feature displays weather information in real time on your Lock screen. It comes in handy since you don’t need to always check the Weather app.

1. Access the Apps Page

Go to the Apps page from your Home screen and choose Settings.

2. Select Lock Screen

Enter the Lock screen options and tick the box next to Weather to turn the option on.
