Minecraft: How to Find Slimes

There are a few ways to find Slimes in Minecraft. These green blobs are rare, and gathering and farming them takes time and patience. However, Slimes are an essential aspect of the game. For example, you can make Slimeballs out of Slimes, which you can use to craft valuable items which otherwise have no way of creating. Read on to learn how to find the Slimes in Minecraft, what to use them for, and how to make a Slime farm.

Minecraft: How to Find Slimes

Finding Slimes in Minecraft

There are two areas in Minecraft where you can find Slimes. You can go to the swamp biome or search for Slimes in caves underground. Swamps are recognized by their dark trees, water, and dark greenery and can be found near a forest or ravine. An alternative way of finding Slimes is through the Chunk Base website or by breeding pandas.

Searching the Swamp

When you find yourself in a swamp, the best thing to do to find Slimes quickly is to find a flat area. Even though the whole swamp might seem flatter than other “Minecraft” regions, finding the flattest area is vital since Slimes usually spawn in areas that range from the 50th to the 70th layer. After you locate a flat area, you need to turn on the coordinates:

  1. Tap the F3 button on your keyboard (it works on PC and Mac). If playing on a console, click Show Coordinates in the World Options menu.
  2. The text containing the coordinates will appear in the left corner of the screen.
    Minecraft in-game coordinates on desktop.
  3. The area of the coordinates needs to fit the layer requirement (50-70th layer).
  4. Hide in a dark spot.
Minecraft; finding slineballs in a dark spot
  5. Search for info on the light level in the coordinates text, represented by the rl value.
Minecraft; finding slimes in a deep biome on desktop.
  6. Ensure the level is seven or less.

If you can’t find the area with this level, you can create darkness by putting a block or a wall to cover the sun. Furthermore, the Slime spawn location needs several vertical blocks, as they need two and a half to appear. Remove the greenery, like leaves and flowers, to create more vertical space if necessary. The more space you make, the more the chances of Slimes spawning will increase.

It’s equally important to find the right spot to wait for Slimes. If you’re too close to the spawn area, the Slimes won’t spawn; if you’re too far, they’ll de-spawn. It would be best to be at least 24 blocks away but not more than 32.

Another requirement for Slimes to spawn is a full moon. You must wait for the moon’s cycle to reach the desired position and then farm the Slimes. Note that they won’t appear on a new moon.

Searching the Cave

If your quest for Slime fails in the swamps, another place where you can look for them is the caves, located below the 40th layer. You can discover Slimes as “Slime Chunks” in a 16×16 block area. To improve the chances of spawning, clear a designed space, add torches for better vision, and avoid other enemies.

Furthermore, you can create block platforms stacked on one another with three blocks of space between them, improving the possibility of Slime spawns. In this scenario, ensure you are 24 blocks away. If they don’t appear in 24 hours, find a new cave and repeat the process.

It’s important to note that giant Slimes can be dangerous as they break into smaller Slimes. You must also kill them to get Slimeballs.

Using Slime Chunk Finder

Apart from Slime Chunks in the caves, you can also find their spawn areas on the surface. The site must still be under the 40th layer for Slimes to spawn. One out of ten chunks will be a Slime Chunk, and when you find one, you need to mark it with fire using torches.

Slimes coordination differs in each seed or “Minecraft” world, except in Bedlock, where the coordinates are the same.

A good way of finding Slime Chunks is by using Chunk Base. In this tool, you can type in the name of the seed and known coordinates and remove everything you don’t need from the picture, leaving only Slime Chunks and biomes visible. Make sure to use the maps on Minecraft properly to achieve this.

Breeding Pandas

If you don’t like fighting with Slimes, there is another way of gathering Slimeballs for your recipes. Pandas can sneeze out Slimeballs, and one way to collect this item is to make a farm to breed pandas. Pandas are unusual animals that need to meet specific requirements to reproduce. They live in bamboo jungles, which are not easy to find.

Pandas need at least eight blocks of bamboo within five blocks of where both animals are to start breeding. These conditions are hard to create anywhere else except the jungle biome, so it’s best to breed them there. If you see the two pandas eating bamboo and not breeding, you must add more bamboo, as the requirements haven’t been satisfied.

However, this doesn’t mean you can’t breed them outside the jungle biome; you need to plant enough bamboo for them to enter the love mode.

Creating a Slimeball Farm

Under the 40th layer, underground caves are the best place to make a Slimeball farm. This is how you can do it:

  1. Find a Slime Chunk with Chunk Base.
  2. Clear out a 16×16 area in the cave.
Minecraft; 16x16 area for Slimeball farm on desktop.
  3. Make it 20 blocks deep.
  4. Create vertical platforms stacked on one another with three block spaces between them.
Minecraft; 20 block pillars for Slimeball farm on desktop.
  5. Place torches on the platform to avoid other creatures.
  6. Make an Iron Golem.
    Iron Golem
  7. Put magma blocks instead of regular floor blocks.

This is the most efficient way of farming Slimeballs. The Iron Golem will make Slimes jump off their platforms when they spawn, then drop on magma blocks and die.

The Importance of Slime

There are many different ways in which you can collect Slimes. Some are more effective, while others take longer. Either way, gathering Slimes and looting Slimeballs is an essential aspect of Minecraft and shouldn’t be overlooked. Slimeball uses are multiple, and with it, you can craft different items that will help you advance in the game.

FAQs

How can I use slimeballs?

Slimeballs can be used in many recipes for creating various items:

Sticky Piston – This is one of the most commonly created items. You can make a Sticky Piston by putting a Slimeball on the Piston on the crafting table. Use the item for different builds, like hidden doors.

Magma Cream – This potion ingredient can be created by combining a Slimeball and Blaze Powder. With Magma Cream, you can create different potions, like a Fire Resistance Potion.

Lead – You need one Slimeball and four strings to make a Lead. With it, you can tie a friendly or neutral mob to the fence to avoid losing them or take a mob with you as your pet.

How do I get Slimeballs?

The only way to get Slimeballs in Minecraft is by killing slimes. While it is possible to find them in multiple areas, they are the only mob that will drop Slimeballs.
